Gno.land Mainnet Is Live: NewTendermint Puts Readable Go Code On-Chain

Gno.land Mainnet Is Live

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Gno.land, a next-generation Go-based smart contract platform developed by NewTendermint, announced the launch of its mainnet.

Mainnet marks the transition from Gno.land's Beta network to a fully operable, production network. With this release, GNOT becomes transferable at the protocol level, genesis validators begin securing the network, and GovDAO assumes its role as Gno.land's on-chain governance system. Developers now have a live network on which to deploy realms, the smart contracts that power the Gno.land ecosystem.

Mainnet Details

Where many smart contract platforms ask developers to learn a language built only for one ecosystem, Gno.land takes a different approach. Every contract on Gno.land, called a realm, is written in Gno, an interpreted, fully deterministic variation of Go, and published on-chain in full source form, so any user can read, verify, or fork the code behind an application. Because Gno is close to standard Go, one of the most widely used programming languages in the world, developers already familiar with Go can build on Gno.land without a steep learning curve.

"I’ve said something like this in the past: ‘Tendermint changed the way blockchain developers think about consensus algorithms. Gno.land will change the way developers think about programming,’” says Jae Kwon, founder and CEO of Gno.land. “With our mainnet live, that shift is no longer theoretical. We are, as we speak, changing the way developers think about programming."

With mainnet now producing blocks, developers have a live, production network on which to build using the Gno virtual machine. A number of ecosystem projects have already been through extensive testing on Gno.land's testnets and are ready to move into production, including Adena, an open-source, non-custodial wallet, GnoSwap, the first decentralized exchange on Gno.land, and Akkadia, a virtual on-chain voxel game.

In further detail, Mainnet activates GovDAO in its initial form. GovDAO is Gno.land's tiered, on-chain governance system, through which active contributors and community members oversee important network decisions.

GNOT, the Fuel for Gno.land

GNOT is the native token of Gno.land, used for storage deposits, transaction fees, contract execution, and interchain activities. The GNOT token, following TGE, will be live for all participants on Gno.land to use in deploying contracts and conducting transactions. A public auction for GNOT ran from July 20 to July 27, 2026 on Sonar, the compliance platform operated by Echo, raising $1.18 million at a clearing price of $0.0645 per token.

What's Next

Following mainnet, Gno.land will focus on optimizing and stabilizing the network as it moves from Beta to full production, hardening the GnoVM and refining performance under real world usage. Gno.land also plans to expand its developer community through documentation, tooling, and educational resources, and continue growing the broader Gno.land community across builders, validators, and everyday users.

About Gno.land

Gno.land is a next-generation, open-source smart contract platform founded by Jae Kwon, co-creator of Cosmos and Tendermint. Gno.land uses Gno, an interpreted, fully deterministic variation of Go, to enable developers to write secure, readable, and highly composable smart contracts. By requiring all code to be published with full source on-chain, Gno.land sets a new standard for transparency, auditability, and open collaboration.

About NewTendermint

NewTendermint is a software engineering company developing core infrastructure for decentralized systems, including Tendermint2 and Gno.land. Led by Jae Kwon, NewTendermint is the core maintainer of the Gno.land protocol and GnoVM, advancing open-source technologies that support transparent, permissionless, and globally accessible applications.
